UPSC Prelims Cut off 2024: What can be the UPSC cutoff this year?
In the last 2-3 years, the level of UPSC question paper has been very difficult. Due to this the cutoff has also been high. In 2016, the UPSC cutoff was 116, while in 2023 it was 75.41. However, the cutoff is expected to increase in 2024. According to the analysis of Rouse IAS Study Circle, this year the UPSC cutoff can be close to 90 +/- 2 marks. Know 4 special reasons-
1- Most of the questions in high scoring sections like Politics, History and Geography were asked from the textbooks. These questions would have been easy for those who have prepared well from NCERT.
2- The difficulty level of GS Paper 1 was same as that of 2018 and 2019.
3- This year most of the questions had 2 statements (last year they had 4). Many questions could be solved by eliminating the options. This made the paper a little easier.
4- In the last few years, there were more number of candidates who scored good marks in GS Paper 1 but failed in the prelims due to not being able to qualify the CSAT paper. Now students have increased their focus on the CSAT paper. It is expected that this year more candidates can qualify the CSAT paper, due to which the cutoff will also increase.
