Islamabad. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday. The administration led by US President Donald Trump spoke to him as a new attempt to reduce tension between Islamabad and New Delhi.
During the phone call, Sharif strongly condemned India’s missile and drone attacks in Pakistan, in which at least 31 people lost their lives and 57 others were injured.
Sharif said, “Pakistan reserves the right to take action in self-defense according to Article-51 of the United Nations Charter.”
According to the details received from the Prime Minister’s residence, Sharif accused India of violating Pakistan’s sovereignty and regional integrity and seriously threatening peace and stability in the South Asia region.
The press release of the Prime Minister’s residence said, “The Prime Minister confirmed Pakistan’s determination to protect his sovereignty and regional integrity at all costs.”
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Washington is keeping a close watch on the situation and monitoring the crisis, he expressed serious concern over the deteriorating security situation in South Asia.
“For this purpose, he emphasized the need to work together to reduce the stress of both Pakistan and India,” said the statement of the Prime Minister’s residence.
India said on Thursday that Pakistan used drones and missiles on the night of 7-8 May, using Avantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bathinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttaralai and Bhuj, trying to attack many military statues in North and Western India, which anisted counter U.S. The system was made ineffective by the system.
However, Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar rejected India’s claims. He held a media conference with DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary.
Dar said, “Today a political statement came that last night Pakistan tried to attack Indian establishments. It is not true.”
