IGI Airport Police: Indira Gandhi International Airport Police has busted a gang which used to steal jewelery and other valuables from the bags of passengers during air travel. In this case, IGI Airport Police has arrested two people of this gang. The target of this gang was especially the elderly women who had come from abroad.
According to IGI Airport Police Deputy Commissioner Usha Ranganani, the arrested accused have been identified as Rajesh Kapoor and Sharad Jain. Rajesh Kapoor’s job was to steal luggage from the hand bags of passengers in flights, while Sharad Jain’s job was to buy this stolen luggage. The airport police has also recovered jewelery worth lakhs from their possession.
According to DCP Usha Ranganani, after the arrest of both the accused, about 11 incidents of jewelery theft from flights have come to light. In this, an incident was reported by an elderly woman who had recently come from Hyderabad. In the last one year, accused Rajesh Kapoor has taken about 110 air journeys. The process of questioning the accused is continuing. There is a possibility that other incidents of jewelery theft from inside the flight may soon be revealed.
According to DCP Usha Ranganani, the accused in this case have so far recovered four gold rings, two pairs of gold air rings, three gold bracelets, one gold mang tikka, three silver bracelets, a silver coin, 660 diamonds and other gems stones. Have been recovered. He said that the investigation into this matter is still going on. If found guilty during the investigation, action will be taken against other people also.
