In this case, a businesswoman from Bhopal and a teacher from Ujjain has lodged an FIR against this fraud. After registering the complaint, the police arrested the accused on Thursday night itself. Police suspect that the list of such victims could be even longer.
The accused has been identified as Umar Ahmed son Ashfaq. On August 30, the police had also announced a reward of Rs 5000 on him for catching Ashfaq. He was arrested from Manawar on Thursday night. He was seen roaming on Singhana Marg in Manawar. Victim is a teacher of a private school in Ujjain. On 21 April 2022, he had written an FIR in the police station Jiwajiganj of Ujjain regarding this matter. He told the police that he had come to know the accused Umar through the matrimonial site Jeevansathi. Their relationship was also fixed.
After this, Umar took Rs 6 lakh from him in the name of business and Rs 2 lakh each for other reasons. During this time he started living in Ujjain with a rented house. After a few days, he disappeared on the pretext of shifting the house to another place. After this, he called himself a cancer patient and said that he cannot get married.
