Chennai . Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramaniam has said that vaccination is the only way to prevent the fourth wave of COVID-19. He was speaking to reporters during a brief interaction at the Tuticorin airport.
He said that there has been a decline in the number of corona cases, but people need to be cautious as the number of daily cases is increasing across the world.
Tamil Nadu Health Minister said, IIT Kanpur has said that there is a possibility of fourth wave after June and we cannot ignore anything. Cases are increasing globally.
He said that South Korea is adding 4 lakh cases per day in Asian countries, while Britain and America are also seeing an increase in corona cases every day.
The minister said Tamil Nadu has less than 100 cases per day and zero deaths due to COVID-19 for the past few days, but neighboring Kerala reported 847 new cases on Saturday.
Subramaniam said Tuticorin, Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli districts have less number of second doses of vaccine and the health department and the state government are reviewing the reasons for the decline.
The Minister said that Tamil Nadu, in collaboration with the Government of India, is helping those MBBS students who have returned from Ukraine for their further studies. He said this is similar to the joint efforts made by the Tamil Nadu government with the central government.
He said that during the counselling, students who returned from Ukraine are preferring Poland to continue their medical education as the curriculum is similar to that of Ukraine.
