Tomatoes are available at Rs 100 per kg at Mother Dairy’s retail outlet ‘Safal’ in Delhi. According to the data of the Department of Consumer Affairs, the retail price of tomato in Delhi on Saturday was Rs 93 per kg. According to government data, the all-India average price of tomato on July 20 was Rs 73.76 per kg. A senior official of the department said that prices increased sharply last week due to supply disruptions due to extreme heat and subsequent excessive rain.

The prices of potatoes and onions also increased sharply

The official said, “The prices of tomatoes, potatoes and onions are very high in Delhi and some other cities. Due to extreme heat and subsequent heavy rains, the supply was disrupted, which led to a surge in retail prices.” On Saturday, onions were being sold at Rs 46.90 per kg and potatoes at Rs 41.90 per kg at a Mother Dairy store in west Delhi. According to government data, onions are available in Delhi at Rs 50 per kg and potatoes at Rs 40 per kg. The all-India average price of onion is Rs 44.16 per kg and that of potatoes is Rs 37.22 per kg.

The prices of these green vegetables also increased

The prices of other green vegetables have also increased. On Saturday, zucchini was available at Mother Dairy at Rs 59 per kg, bitter gourd at Rs 49 per kg, French beans at Rs 89 per kg, ladyfinger at Rs 49 per kg, tinda at Rs 119 per kg, green capsicum at Rs 119 per kg, brinjal (small) at Rs 49 per kg, brinjal (big) at Rs 59 per kg, pointed gourd at Rs 49 per kg, bottle gourd at Rs 39 per kg and arvi at Rs 69 per kg.
