New Delhi. In the Indian Premier League 2024, the team management of Mumbai Indians announced the appointment of Hardik Pandya as the captain in place of Rohit Sharma. The fans were not very happy with this decision and due to this the team’s all-rounder had to face constant booing during the match. After losing three consecutive matches, Mumbai tasted victory but the fans are still behaving badly against Hardik. Former England captain Kevin Pietersen said that he has gone through such a situation and hence understands their pain.
The Mumbai Indians team had to face defeat against the current champion Chennai Super Kings on Sunday 14 April. During this match, in the last over, captain Hardik Pandya was hit by former Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for three consecutive sixes and scored 20 runs in 4 balls. Mumbai lost this match by a margin of 20 runs only. When Hardik was hitting sixes, the spectators who reached the ground once again booed him.
