Bhopal: Good news has come from Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh. Namibian cheetah Asha has given birth to 3 cubs. A cute video of these cubs has also surfaced. This information has been given by Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav.
Cheetah Project successful!
On September 17, 2022, 8 cheetahs brought from Namibia were released in Kuno National Park, Sheopur. After this, on February 18, 12 leopards were brought from South Africa and settled there. The reason for bringing cheetahs from South Africa and Namibia was to save this species from extinction and maintain the balance of nature.
To attract the nation’s attention towards these leopards, PM Modi had asked for suggestions from the public to name the leopards during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme. After which the public had sent many names as suggestions and these leopards were given Indian names.
Now the frolic of 3 cubs in Kuno National Park has confirmed that the government’s cheetah project is moving towards success. It is hoped that these cubs will remain healthy in the Indian environment and more chirping will echo in Coon Park.
