Actor Vidyut Jamwal has recently appeared in support of comedian Kunal Kamra amidst the ongoing controversy over sarcastic remarks on Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. While defending Kunal, Vidyut expressed concern over the lack of accountability to Kamal R Khan (KRK), which is known for making controversial statements. Vidyut shared a video on Instagram which includes both KRK and Kunal Kamra. In the caption, he strongly criticized KRK’s statements and said that he targets India and its women in his video and still does not get any response. However, on the statement of Kunal that it was just a satire, there was a lot of criticism.
In the caption, he wrote: “Here a man is taking shelter outside the country, who is attracting attention by spewing poison against the country and our women. No one raises questions on his intentions or mobilizes against him. But we take a stand-up comedian to awaken their acts with his acting. Do we support the rights of politicians on our country and our women?” Electrical posts rapidly attracted attention and many celebrities showed their support in the comment section. Actress Richa Chadha, who had taken legal action against KRK, then wrote, “I took her to court. Why not another?” Actor Arjun Kapoor also expressed support by liking the post.
Fans appreciated Vidyut to address the issue and a user commented, “Finally, some influential person is speaking. You get more power!” Kunal Kamra has recently faced strong criticism after commenting on Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during a stand-up performance. His comment angered Shiv Sena activists, due to which the Habitat Studios in Mumbai were vandalized.
After the incident, Kunal was issued two summons by Khar police station in Mumbai, for which he requested to extend the deadline. However, his request of time expansion to respond was rejected.
