Decision on Vinesh Phogat soon

Vinesh Phogat Update: The Olympics 2024 played in Paris has ended. Almost all the players and athletes have returned to their respective countries. But even after this, the most talked about name today is that of Vinesh Phogat. Vinesh Phogat was disqualified for the final when one of her medals, gold or silver, was confirmed. After this she appealed. Although it was already said that the decision would be taken, but it is believed that a decision will be taken on her any time by this evening. Will Vinesh Phogat return to India with a silver medal or empty handed? This can be known soon.

Vinesh was disqualified before the final

Vinesh Phogat was disqualified on 7 August in the morning, when the final of her event was to be held in the evening of the same day. Vinesh was participating in the 50 kg category. Just a day before this, when Vinesh played the rest of the matches, her weight was within the prescribed limit, but when the weight was measured the next morning, it was found that it was 100 grams more than 50 kg. This was the reason for her disqualification. Vinesh raised her voice against this and has argued before the Court of Arbitration for Sports to be jointly awarded the silver medal. Not only Vinesh but the whole country of India is waiting for what decision comes on Vinesh’s appeal. It has been two days since the Olympic Games ended, now the decision can come by this evening.

This argument has been put forward by Vinesh

It is said that the panel has already heard the parties, who were given the opportunity to file their detailed legal arguments before the hearing and then present oral arguments. As far as Vinesh is concerned, her demand for silver is based on the fact that she had played all her three matches including the semi-final a day earlier within the prescribed weight limit of 50 kg and made it to the finals by winning all three. Vinesh’s weight was 100 grams more than the prescribed limit on the day of the final. Therefore, she should be disqualified only from the final, not from the entire event. Now whether this demand of Vinesh is met or not, it will also be decided late tonight.
