Dehradun. VIP darshan in Chardham Yatra has been banned till June 10. On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has also sent a letter in this regard to the Chief Secretaries of all the states. Earlier, orders were given to keep all VIP darshan banned till May 30.
Uttarakhand Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar said that elaborate arrangements have been made for the Yatra. In Haridwar and Dehradun, arrangements have been made to stop unregistered travellers and get them registered. In Rishikesh too, arrangements have been made to stop registered travellers if there is a crowd. Travellers coming ahead should come only after getting registered.
So far, more than 14 lakh devotees have reached Uttarakhand in the Chardham Yatra which started on May 10. Uttarakhand Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar, who reached Haridwar, the entry point of the Chardham Yatra, on Thursday, claimed that this is the first time after Covid that such a huge crowd of devotees has gathered at the start of the Chardham Yatra. The number of pilgrims has crossed 14 lakh. The DGP appealed to all the pilgrims coming to Uttarakhand and said that they should not come here without registration and must follow the instructions of the police in view of the bad weather. The DGP admitted that the arrangements went off track due to the heavy crowd in the initial phase, but now all arrangements have been made and the police is fully prepared.
