After the Sri Lanka tour is over, the Indian cricket team is currently on a long break. Team India has to play its next international series against Bangladesh from September 19. That means Team India will be away from the field for more than 1 month. Meanwhile, many Indian cricketers will be seen trying their hand at domestic cricket. Actually, Duleep Trophy is to be played between September 5 and September 22 in which young stars like KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill will be seen participating. Earlier there was news that senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma can also play in this tournament but ESPNcricinfo has clarified that both the players have no such intention.

Not only Rohit and Kohli but Jasprit Bumrah will also be on a long break from the Test series against Bangladesh. However, Rahul, Pant, Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Sarfaraz Khan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rajat Patidar and even Ishan Kishan, who have not been part of the national team since December last year and are also out of the central contract, will be seen playing in the four-team tournament starting on September 5.
Meanwhile, an old tweet of Virat Kohli is going viral. Actually, on Monday, 12 August, when the news of senior players playing in the Duleep Trophy spread, Kohli’s 14-year-old tweet went viral. Kohli had tweeted on 25 January 2010 and asked fans for best wishes for the Duleep Trophy. Kohli had said – “Wish me best wishes for the Duleep Trophy.” Fans are now commenting heavily on this old tweet of King Kohli and are praying for him to play in this tournament.
Virat Kohli had said goodbye to T20I cricket last month after winning the T20I World Cup 2024 title, after which it was expected that he could be seen playing in the Duleep Trophy. But now he is believed to be directly playing in the Test series against Bangladesh next month. The 2 Test match series between India and Bangladesh will be played from 19 September to 1 October.
