Bengaluru. After starting the Indian Premier League season with a loss, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team got its first win. The team registered a thrilling victory in the last over against Punjab Kings. Mahipal Lomror, the batsman who led the team to victory, said something after the match which is being talked about. The role of an impact player seems strange but he played it well on Monday against Punjab Kings.
When RCB was chasing the target of 177 runs, they introduced Lomror as an impact player in place of Yash Dayal. Who scored 17 runs on 8 balls and added 47 runs with Dinesh Karthik (28) to help his team win by four wickets. This was the first time that Lomror played as an impact player and he found the role strange.
Lomror said in the press conference after the match, “To be honest, when I went to bat, I was feeling very strange. The rules of being an impact player are such that you have to be ready all the time because at any time you can be asked to take the field.
This 24-year-old player said that the team management had already told him that he can be used as a substitute player against Punjab Kings. He said, “The way ‘impact’ is associated with an impact player, you have to leave your impact as soon as you enter the field. The team management had talked about this last night. They told me that if we chase the target then they can use me in the lower order. In this way, I was mentally prepared for it.
