According to the new report of IDC, Vivo has left Samsung behind in terms of selling smartphones in the first quarter of 2024. Vivo becomes the new ‘king’
According to the IDC report, Vivo had a market share of 16.2 percent in the first quarter of the year, which is a year-on-year growth of 17.2 percent compared to the first quarter of 2023. Vivo’s market share in the first quarter of 2023 was 15.4 percent. At the same time, Samsung’s market share has declined to 15.6 percent in the first quarter of 2024. The South Korean company, which has ruled the Indian smartphone market for a long time, had a market share of 20.1 percent in the first quarter of 2023. Samsung’s market share has declined by 13.3 percent year-on-year.
Another Chinese brand at number three is Xiaomi, whose market share in the first quarter of 2024 was 12.8 percent. Even in the first quarter of 2023, Xiaomi’s market share was 12.6 percent. Xiaomi has registered a growth of 13.3 percent year-on-year. Oppo’s market share in the first quarter of the year was 10.2 percent. Oppo has suffered a loss of 1.8 percent year-on-year as of the first quarter of 2023. The market share of the Chinese brand in the first quarter of 2023 was 11.6 percent.
Increased demand for Apple iPhone
Realme’s growth continues. The company has registered a growth of 17.3 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of the year. Realme’s market share in the first quarter of the year is 9.8 percent, which is more than the 9.3 percent market share in the first quarter of 2023. Apple has registered tremendous growth in the Indian market this year. Apple is currently at sixth position with 7.3 percent market share. Apple’s market share in the first quarter of 2023 was 6.8 percent. The brand has registered a growth of 19 percent year-on-year.
Poco has been ranked seventh in this list, whose market share in the first quarter of the year was 5.9 percent. The Chinese brand has registered a growth of 72.2 percent year-on-year compared to the first quarter of 2023. POCO’s market share in the first quarter of 2023 was 3.8 percent. At number eight is OnePlus, whose market share in the first quarter of 2024 is 5.1 percent. There has been a decline of 5.4 percent in the market share of OnePlus compared to the first quarter of the year 2023. Earlier the market share of OnePlus was 6 percent.
Motorola recorded the highest growth
Motorola has recorded the highest growth in the first quarter of 2024. The brand has registered a growth of 110 percent this year compared to the first quarter of 2023. The market share of this brand, ranked at number 9, has increased to 4.6 percent, which was only 2.4 percent in the first quarter of 2023. Tecno’s market share in the first quarter of 2024 is 2.9 percent, which is less than 3.4 percent in the first quarter of 2023.
