New Delhi: In the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections, voting will be held on Saturday i.e. today for 58 seats in six states and two union territories, including all seven seats in Delhi. Apart from the national capital, voting will be held today in 14 seats of Uttar Pradesh, all 10 seats in Haryana, eight seats each in Bihar and West Bengal, six seats in Odisha, four seats in Jharkhand and one seat in Jammu & Kashmir. Apart from this, voting will also be held in 42 assembly seats of Odisha. Voting will start at seven in the morning and will continue till six in the evening.
More than 1.13 crore people will cast their vote
More than 11.13 crore people are voters in this phase. These include 5.84 crore men, 5.29 crore women and 5,120 third gender voters. Voting will also take place in Anantnag-Rajouri seat of Jammu and Kashmir. The Election Commission has also urged voters to participate in the election festival in large numbers and vote with responsibility and pride.

Prominent candidates in the sixth phase include Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan (BJP) from Sambalpur (Odisha), Manoj Tiwari (BJP) and Kanhaiya Kumar (Congress) from North East Delhi, Maneka Gandhi (BJP) from Sultanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Mehbooba Mufti (PDP) from Anantnag-Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir), Abhijit Gangopadhyay (BJP) from Tamluk (West Bengal), former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar from Karnal, Naveen Jindal from Kurukshetra and Rao Inderjit Singh from Gurugram seat.
AAP-Congress has made him a candidate in Delhi
There is a direct contest between BJP and India alliance on seven Lok Sabha seats of Delhi. As per the seat sharing agreement between the components of India alliance before the elections, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is contesting on four seats and Congress on three seats. This is the first Lok Sabha election when AAP and Congress are contesting elections together and challenging the ruling BJP at the center. AAP has fielded Kuldeep Kumar from East Delhi seat, Mahabal Mishra from West Delhi, Somnath Bharti from New Delhi and Sahi Ram Pehelwan from South Delhi. Congress has fielded JP Agarwal from Chandni Chowk, Kanhaiya Kumar from North East Delhi and Udit Raj from North West Delhi seat.
BJP has given tickets to these leaders
The BJP has fielded Manoj Tiwari from North East Delhi and he is the only sitting MP from the national capital who has been fielded again by the party. The BJP has fielded Ramvir Singh Bidhuri from South Delhi, Bansuri Swaraj from New Delhi, Harshdeep Malhotra from East Delhi, Yogendra Chandolia from North West Delhi, Praveen Khandelwal from Chandni Chowk and Kamaljeet Sehrawat from West Delhi.
Votes will be cast on these seats in UP
Voting will be held in 14 Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh for the sixth phase of general elections, where the electoral fate of 162 candidates, including former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi, Trinamool Congress’s Lalitesh Pati Tripathi and Bhojpuri film actor Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua, will be decided. In the sixth phase, voting will be held in 14 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state, namely Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Phulpur, Allahabad, Ambedkarnagar, Shravasti, Dumariyaganj, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Lalganj, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Machhlishahr and Bhadohi.
The competition is tough here
In Sultanpur, BJP candidate Maneka Gandhi is pitted against Samajwadi Party’s (SP) Rambhual Nishad and Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP) Udayraj Verma. In Azamgarh seat, outgoing BJP MP Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua is pitted against SP chief Akhilesh Yadav’s cousin Dharmendra Yadav. In Jaunpur seat, BSP’s sitting MP Shyam Singh Yadav has been fielded again by the party, who is pitted against SP candidate and former minister Babu Singh Kushwaha and BJP’s Kripashankar Singh.
The electoral fate of these candidates is at stake in Jharkhand
Around 82.16 lakh voters, including 40.09 lakh women, are eligible to exercise their franchise in Jharkhand’s Giridih, Dhanbad, Ranchi and Jamshedpur constituencies. All four Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand are likely to witness a direct contest between the ruling coalition led by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and the BJP-led Opposition. In the Ranchi Lok Sabha seat, Congress leader Yashaswini Sahay, daughter of former Union minister Subodh Kant Sahay, is pitted against BJP’s sitting MP Sanjay Seth.
In Dhanbad, there is a direct contest between BJP’s MLA from Bagmara, Dulu Mahato, and Congress’s MLA from Bermo, Kumar Jayamangal’s wife Anupama Singh. In Jamshedpur, there is a possibility of a direct fight between BJP’s sitting MP Vidyut Baran Mahato and JMM’s MLA from Baharagora, Samir Mohanty. In Giridih, Chandra Prakash Choudhary of All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) party is pitted against JMM’s MLA from Tundi, Mathura Mahato.
These big names are contesting elections in Haryana
Voting for 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana and by-election in Karnal assembly constituency will be held on Saturday, which will decide the electoral fate of 223 candidates including former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Congress’ Kumari Selja. In Haryana, a direct contest is being seen between the ruling BJP and opposition party Congress on most of the seats. Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh and Krishan Pal Gurjar, former Chief Minister Manohar Lal and senior Congress leaders Kumari Selja and Deepender Singh Hooda are among the major candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. BJP candidate Khattar from Karnal Lok Sabha seat is pitted against Haryana Youth Congress President Divyanshu Buddhiraja, while Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini is contesting the by-election from Karnal assembly seat.
Votes will be cast on these seats in Bihar
In Bihar, polling will be held in eight seats in the sixth phase, where about 1.5 crore voters of these areas will decide the political future of 86 candidates. All preparations have been completed for fair and peaceful polling in these eight seats of the state. The eight seats on which polling will be held in this phase include Valmikinagar, West Champaran, East Champaran, Shivhar, Vaishali, Gopalganj, Siwan and Maharajganj. In Odisha, polling will be held in six parliamentary constituencies in this phase – Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Puri and Sambalpur and 42 assembly constituencies falling under them. Lok Sabha and assembly elections are being held simultaneously in the state.
