Parliament Session LIVE: The Central Government is going to introduce two important bills in the Lok Sabha today to reduce the unlimited powers given to the Waqf Board and make its system transparent and to give representation to Muslim women and other backward classes of the Muslim society like Shia, Sunni, Bohra and Aagakhani.
Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju is going to introduce two important bills related to amendment in the Waqf Board Act in the Lok Sabha today. According to the agenda of the Lok Sabha, Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will introduce the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024 and the Muslim Waqf (Repeal) Bill 2024 in the Lok Sabha.
Through the first bill, important amendments will be brought in the Wakf Act 1955, while through the second bill, the Muslim Wakf Act 1923 will be abolished. Before this, on 18 February 2014, Minister of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju will introduce a bill in the Rajya Sabha to withdraw the law related to Wakf property introduced in the Rajya Sabha during the tenure of Manmohan Singh’s UPA government.
Given the way the Modi government’s efforts to amend the Waqf Act are being opposed, uproar is expected in both the houses, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. According to the Lok Sabha agenda, on Thursday, Union Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu will also propose to pass the Indian Aircraft Bill, 2024 and Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will also propose to pass the bill giving representation to Scheduled Tribes in the Goa Legislative Assembly.
