Pune. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hit out at NCP chief Sharad Pawar, blaming ‘wandering souls’ for ushering in an era of political instability in Maharashtra 45 years ago. PM Modi did not name Pawar, but it was clear that he was referring to the Maratha politician’s rebellion against then Chief Minister Vasantdada Patil in 1978. Sharad Pawar had toppled the Patil-led government with the support of 40 MLAs and was sworn in as Chief Minister on July 18, 1978, at the age of 38.
PM Modi said, ’45 years ago some wandering souls started a period of political instability in Maharashtra. A big leader started this game for his personal ambition. He said that he will not allow religion based reservation in the country.
