According to the FIR lodged at Thane’s Kopari police station, Wankhede had obtained a license for the hotel and bar by making false statements about his age. He was under 18 in 1996-97 and was not eligible for a licence. Despite this, he claimed to be a Major in his contract for the Sadhguru Hotel in Thane.
Why was the license canceled
Age was misrepresented in the license application filed in 1997 for Sameer Wankhede’s Sadhguru Hotel. After hearing Thane’s Excise Superintendent and Wankhede’s counsel, a six-page order was passed to cancel the hotel’s license. This bar was allowed to sell liquor.
Why was the action taken?
During the investigation of the Collector, it was found that Wankhede had obtained the license of the hotel and bar on 27 October 1997. 21 years of age was required to obtain a licence, but Wankhede was less than 18 years of age at that time so his license was revoked.
