New Delhi: On Thursday, the Modi government at the Centre presented the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha. During this, opposition MPs created a ruckus in the Lok Sabha. This bill has been sent to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). On this, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi said that the bill has been sent to the JPC, who knows what will happen there.

Owaisi said, JPC will be formed by the Speaker Sir. Who will be its members? It is a bit early to say about this. However, he posted on X. He wrote in the post that the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2024 has been brought to divide the country, not to unite it, you are the enemy of Muslims, this bill is proof of this. He also shared a clip of his speech in the Lok Sabha on social media.
‘Many opposition MPs are in support, but are not speaking due to pressure’
In the Lok Sabha, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju threw light on the Waqf Amendment Bill. He said that this Act was introduced in 1954, after which many amendments were made. Then why is so much ruckus being created in the Lok Sabha. I am very happy that being a non-Muslim, I am getting the opportunity to present this bill for the welfare of Muslims. I want to ask whether it is necessary to belong to a particular caste to handle a ministry and present a bill. Rijiju said that whatever income will be generated from the Waqf property, it will be spent only for the welfare of the Muslim community. Now the representation of Muslim women has become mandatory in the new Central Waqf Council and State Waqf Board. The Waqf Amendment Bill is not being presented in this House for the first time, this bill has been brought to give rights to those who have not got the rights.
Rijiju said that many opposition MPs are in support of this bill. They come separately and support it, but cannot speak because of the party. On this, Amit Shah interrupted and said that the names of the MPs should not be disclosed… on which everyone laughed.
