Kolkata. Several politicians from West Bengal are on the Enforcement Directorate (ED) radar in connection with the mobile gaming app fraud. This news has been given by TV channel ‘Aaj Tak’. On Saturday, the ED raided the premises of 6 people, including a businessman, in Kolkata. Rs 17 crore cash was received from the businessman. The ED is also looking at the angle of being linked to China in this case. Meanwhile, allegations and counter-allegations have also started between the ruling Trinamool Congress TMC and BJP in West Bengal in this matter. TMC is accusing it of keeping investors away from the state in this matter. At the same time, BJP is saying that there is fear in TMC.
First let us tell you what Firhad Hakim, a minister in the TMC government and mayor of Kolkata, said. Hakim said that TMC has nothing to do with the businessman whose place has been raided. He said that such raids would scare the businessmen and would not want to come to West Bengal. Firhad questioned whether the ED’s investigation in money laundering cases was limited to states ruled by non-BJP parties like West Bengal? If Rs 17 crore has been recovered in the investigation, then the source of that money must be investigated. He also alleged that there are businessmen in BJP ruled states and they must have accumulated huge amount of money.
Hakim also said that what about Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi, who had cheated more than 7,000 crores? Why was his wrongdoing not exposed before leaving his country? On Firhad Hakim’s statement, BJP state spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya said that such statements come out of fear. Because people are aware of the nexus between money laundering and TMC. He also said that the ED raids are not against the business community in general. This is only against the dishonest. Shamik turns around and asks if he (TMC) has anything to hide? Let us tell you that before this, the ED and CBI have arrested Partha Chatterjee, who was a minister in the Mamta government and Anubrata Mandal, a close aide of Mamta. The ED had also recovered assets worth more than Rs 50 crore from two flats of Parth’s close aide actor Arpita Mukherjee.
