However, the police have registered a FIR in this case and have put Town Police Station President Ashwini Kumar Tiwari on the line for negligence. The reason behind the incident was the altercation, abuse and stone pelting reaction between BJP and RJD workers near booth numbers 318 and 319. In this case, when firing took place on the morning of 21st May, a person named Chandan Kumar died. At the same time, persons named Guddu Rai and Manoj Rai were injured and were sent for treatment.

Saran Police has further said that in this case, the police took immediate action in which BJP workers Jai Narayan Singh Solanki and Ramakant Singh were detained and searched. On the basis of their interrogation, weapons and bullets were recovered from them. The FSL team has also investigated the spot and action is underway to arrest other accused. Police has also said that Ashwini Kumar Tiwari of the concerned city police station has been put on the line for negligence in connection with this incident.
