Landslide in Wayanad, Kerala has caused massive destruction. According to information, 45 people have died so far in this natural disaster. At the same time, hundreds of people are still stranded. Meanwhile, India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has taken a big action. He spoke to the Chief of the Indian Army and asked him to deploy the army for assistance and rescue in landslide-affected Wayanad, Kerala. Army teams have reached the spot in Wayanad.

PM Modi announced compensation

From PM Modi to President Draupadi Murmu, many leaders have expressed grief over the accident in Wayanad. PM Modi has spoken to the Chief Minister of Kerala. The PM has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured. Many leaders including JP Nadda, Mallikarjun Kharge have expressed grief over this accident.

What did Rahul Gandhi say?

On the landslide in Wayanad, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has said that several devastating landslides occurred in Wayanad this morning. More than 70 people have lost their lives. I have spoken to the Defense Minister and the Chief Minister of Kerala. I request the central government to provide all possible assistance for rescue and medical care, immediate compensation to the deceased. Important transport and communication lines should be restored, relief should be arranged as soon as possible and a roadmap should be prepared for the rehabilitation of the affected families.

The biggest loss here

The landslide has caused the most damage in Churalmala and Mundakkai villages. A part of both these villages has been washed away due to the land slide. Many houses including a resort, some homestays have been buried under the debris of the land slide. Rescue teams are unable to reach Mundakkai village due to the collapse of the bridge over the river. Helicopters are also unable to reach there due to adverse weather. According to reports, about 400 families are stranded after a bridge collapsed in Churalmala town.
