New Delhi. Team India will play a 5-match Test series with Australia at the end of the year under the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The first Test match of the series will be played from November 22. Australia’s experienced off-spinner Nathan Lyon wants to settle the accounts of the last 10 years with India. However, he is also afraid of young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. To deal with Yashasvi, Lyon has sought help from England’s spinner Tom Hartley. Lyon has taken 530 wickets in Tests, yet he is asking the England spinner for a formula to get Yashasvi out quickly.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a century on debut in the West Indies last year, scored 712 runs in the five-Test series against England at home earlier this year. But the pace and bounce on Australian pitches will pose a different challenge for this Mumbai batsman. ‘ESPNcricinfo’ quoted Nathan Lyon as saying, ‘I have not faced him (Jaiswal) yet but it will be a big challenge for all of us bowlers. The way he (Jaiswal) played against England, I saw it very closely and I thought it was fantastic.’

Lyon and Hartley played together in the county
Nathan Lyon played for Lancashire in the English County. And he got a chance to talk to Tom Hartley. Who took 20 wickets in four Test matches against India. And he is a player who has experience of playing against Jaiswal. According to Nathan Lyon, ‘I had a very good conversation with Tom Hartley (England’s left-arm spinner) about his ways of playing against different bowlers, which I found very interesting.’
Australia last won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2014-15
Australia have lost the next four series against India since winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-0 in 2014-15. Two of these series were played under the leadership of Virat Kohli (2016-17, 2018-19) while one each was played under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane (2021) and Rohit Sharma (2023). Apart from Lyon, Josh Hazlewood, who played in the 2014-15 series, is still a part of the Australian team. And he admitted that Australia’s recent results against India show a big flaw in their record.
‘Ten years of unfinished work’
Nathan Lyon said, ‘It’s ten years of unfinished business, it’s been a long time and I know we are very hungry to change things, especially here on home ground. Don’t get me wrong, India is a superstar team and it is very challenging to face them, but I am very hungry to change things and want to make sure we bring that trophy back.’ The Indian team will play a 5-match Test series with Australia after a long time. Earlier, a 4-match Test series was being played between the two teams under the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
