Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from Paris Olympics due to overweight, after which Vinesh announced her retirement early this morning. Vinesh informed about this by writing a post on her social media account. On which people are advising her not to do so. On this, today India TV talked to Vinesh’s uncle Mahavir Phogat.
‘We will make him understand that there is one more Olympics left’
Mahavir Phogat said that after Vinesh’s husband, sisters and I will explain to her after a few days when she comes back that there is one more Olympics left which she can play. She should prepare and go again for her gold which is left this time.
‘This has happened before in the Olympics’
On Vinesh Phogat’s recent decision to go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Mahavir Phogat said that this has happened before in the Olympics that a medal was given to the player. We are hoping that Vinesh gets her silver. Let us tell you that Vinesh Phogat has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for permission to fight for the gold medal. If permission is granted, she has requested to be awarded the joint silver medal. The interim decision of CAS is expected to come today on Thursday.
