New Delhi: Captain Craig Ervine struck an unbeaten 121 as Zimbabwe began their campaign with a comfortable eight-wicket win over Nepal in the ODI World Cup qualifiers on Sunday. West Indies defeated America by 39 runs on the basis of half-century innings of four players. Johnson Charles (66), Shai Hope (54), Roston Chase (55) and Jason Holder (56) scored 297 runs in 49.3 overs. After an unbeaten century by Gajanand Singh (101 not out), America was restricted to 258 for seven wickets. Opener Kushal Bhurtel’s 99 scored Nepal’s 290 for eight but Zimbabwe achieved the target easily with an unbroken 164-run partnership for the third wicket between Ervine and Shaun Williams (102 not out).
