New Delhi. The date for the election of Wrestling Federation of India has been fixed. The election of the new president will be held on July 4. However, in a meeting with Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, the wrestlers demanded that the elections be held by June 30. A Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court has been appointed as the returning officer to conduct the election. In the meeting held with the Sports Minister recently, the wrestlers had made it clear that Brij Bhushan’s close friends should not be allowed to participate in the elections. Apart from this, Brij Bhushan himself has taken over the command of WFI three times, so he too will not be able to take part in the elections as per the rules.
At the same time, the news of the removal of a referee and two coaches has also come to the fore. Referee Jagbir Singh had recently exposed Brij Bhushan by giving a statement against him. He told how Brij Bhushan used to misbehave with women wrestlers. This statement of Jagbir was told against the government. Keeping this in mind, he has been thrown out of the election race. Note that earlier, in a meeting with the Union Sports Minister, the wrestlers had demanded that Brij Bhushan be arrested and a charge sheet be filed against him by June 15.
If Brij Bhushan is not arrested by this stipulated date, the movement will be given a massive form. Earlier, a three-member committee was constituted by the Union Sports Ministry. This committee was given the responsibility to investigate the matter, but despite the completion of the term, no investigation was done, due to which the weak system of the committee was exposed. The protesting wrestlers had expressed their displeasure over this working style of the committee.
