Ayodhya. Officials of Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust said that the ‘Surya Abhishek’ of the idol of Ram Lala in the Ram temple in Ayodhya will be done on Ram Navami (April 17). The tests of the special optomechanical system installed for this have been successful. Daily tests will be conducted continuously to ensure that the sun’s rays fall on the center of the forehead of Ram Lalla’s idol at 12 noon on April 17. According to a news in ‘Indian Express’, an official of the Trust said that ‘the sun’s rays will illuminate the face of Ramlala for four continuous minutes. Teams of scientists from Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee and another institute are engaged in this work.
It has been told that ‘two mirrors and a lens have been installed on the ground floor of the Ram temple. Sunlight will fall on them from the mirror installed on the third floor. The rays reflected from these will form a tilak on the forehead. Since there is no way for direct sunlight to enter the ‘sanctum’ of the temple where the idol is kept. Therefore, an optomechanical device was installed to shine the sun’s rays on the forehead of the idol through mirrors and lenses. With this optomechanical system, ‘Surya Tilak’ of the idol will be done every year on the day of Ram Navami with minor changes in the mirror and lens to take into account the change in direction.
Coming to Ayodhya on Ramnavmi becomes easy, airlines are giving special offers, huge discounts are available
While scientists are busy preparing for the ‘Surya Tilak’ which will last for about 4 minutes, Trust officials said that there will be bright light on the forehead for about 2-2.5 minutes and dim light for the rest of the time. Also, arrangements are being made to telecast the program live on Doordarshan, while large LED screens will be installed at about 100 places across Ayodhya.
