An official said that suburban rail services were slightly delayed, while traffic was affected in many areas due to waterlogging on the roads. Monsoon usually arrives in Mumbai on June 11, but this time it knocked on June 9 itself, but there was almost no rain in the last 15 days. On the morning of June 27, 2024, the India Meteorological Department had predicted cloudy weather with moderate to heavy rains in the city and suburbs in the next 24 hours. At around 9 pm, the weather department nowcast issued a warning of heavy rain at isolated places over Mumbai city and suburbs, Thane, Raigad in the next three to four hours.

There will be trouble in West Bengal
Heavy rains are expected across West Bengal from Friday due to strong southwesterly winds coming from the Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department gave this information on Thursday. According to the IMD, widespread rains and heavy rains are likely in some places in the districts of North Bengal for the next five days. It said that due to strong southwesterly winds, heavy rains may occur at some places in the districts of South Bengal from Friday to Sunday. The Meteorological Department said that Alipurduar received the highest rainfall of 73.2 mm in the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Thursday, while Cooch Behar received 67.4 mm of rain during this period.
Flood havoc in Assam
There has been a slight improvement in the flood situation in Assam. However, about 1.2 lakh people in 5 districts are still affected. This information was given in an official bulletin. According to the daily flood report of Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), more than 1,15,500 people are affected by floods in Cachar, Darang, Dhemaji, Kamrup and Karimganj districts. According to the report, Cachar is the most affected, where about 75,000 people are battling floods. After Cachar, 39 thousand people in Karimganj and about one thousand people in Dhemaji are affected by floods. About 1.4 lakh people were affected in seven districts till Wednesday. The total number of people who lost their lives due to floods, landslides and storms this year has reached 41. Currently, 123 relief camps and distribution centers are active in two districts, where 17,383 people are taking shelter. The floods have damaged embankments, roads, bridges and other buildings in Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Lakhimpur and Udalguri.
