Srinagar. Police can now take action against those helping terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir under the Enemy Agents Act. This law is more stringent and dangerous than UAPA. Jammu and Kashmir DGP RR Swain gave this information.
The DGP said that in 1948, when Pakistani soldiers attacked Jammu and Kashmir in the guise of tribals, the Enemy Agents Act was implemented. DGP RR Swain said that under the Enemy Agents Act, there is a provision for a minimum punishment of life imprisonment. Whereas, the maximum punishment can be death. He said that anyone found helping terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir will be considered an enemy agent. Till now, this law has never been applied on the helpers of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. Whereas, every day, helpers of terrorists and overground workers of terrorist organizations are arrested with weapons.
