New Delhi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah told reporters in the Parliament House complex after a clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers at the Tawang border in Arunachal Pradesh that the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation received Rs 1 crore 35 from the Chinese Embassy in the financial years 2005-06 and 2006-07. A grant of Rs. lakh was received, which was not in accordance with the law and its limitations, so the Ministry of Home Affairs canceled the FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act) registration of the foundation. Along with this, Amit Shah also claimed that the foundation led by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi received Rs 50 lakh from Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) founder Zakir Naik. The IRF was banned by the government for its alleged involvement in terrorism.
