To donate blood, the age of the people should be at least 18 and maximum 65 years. Only people weighing more than 45 kg should donate blood. Only those people whose hemoglobin level is more than 12.5 can donate blood. People suffering from hemoglobin deficiency should not donate blood. Generally, healthy men can donate blood every three months, while healthy women can donate blood every 4 months.
Who should not donate blood?
Dr. Surabhi Garg said that people who have hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV, high blood pressure or blood related diseases should not donate blood. Patients of cancer, autoimmune disease and heart disease also cannot donate blood. People who have infection in their blood also cannot donate blood. Transfusing the blood of such people into the blood of other people can be dangerous and the diseases can reach the other person. Because of this, people suffering from diseases are not advised to donate blood.
It is important to know the medical history before blood donation
According to experts, after blood donation, some blood-related tests are done, but if the donor’s medical history is not known, such blood is avoided from being given to another person. Many people recover from heart disease, infection or surgery, but even after this, transfusing their blood to others can be dangerous. In view of the safety of the patients, the blood donor is asked about his medical history. If he has had any serious disease or infection before, then such people are advised not to donate blood.
