New Delhi. Everyone’s eyes were on the T20 series played between India and Sri Lanka. Gautam Gambhir is on his first foreign tour as Indian coach. Team India started the tour by winning three consecutive matches and clean swept the host team in the T20 series. In the last match, captain Suryakumar Yadav took such decisions due to which India could have lost the chance of winning 3-0. Seeing the support of the coach and future plans, he himself bowled the 19th and then the 20th over from Rinku Singh.
The Indian team won the T20 series against Sri Lanka by 3-0. In this victory, the influence of captain Suryakumar Yadav and coach Gautam Gambhir was clearly visible. Some experiments were done during the series which went in India’s favour. In the third match, when the decision of victory and defeat was to be made, the captain took the difficult decision of making Rinku Singh bowl and then bowled the last over himself. The amazing thing is that the decision proved to be correct but if there was a mistake, the match would have been lost.
What Surya did, others might not have done
In the third T20 against Sri Lanka, when only 9 runs were left from 12 balls, Surya decided to get the 19th over bowled by Rinku Singh. He took 2 wickets for 3 runs and India made a comeback in the match. After this, in the last over, when 6 runs were needed from 6 balls, the captain himself decided to bowl. The amazing thing is that he also took 2 wickets in the over and the match was tied.
Bowling from a part time bowler
The plan of coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav was clear, after winning the series, they were ready to settle for a clean sweep. That’s why they first decided to bowl Rinku Singh and then themselves. Captain Suryakumar Yadav was seen experimenting on the field due to the support he got from coach Gambhir and India won the series 3-0.
