An explosion took place near the Israeli Embassy in Chanakyapuri, Delhi on Tuesday evening and a letter addressed to the Israeli Ambassador in ‘indecent’ language has been recovered from the spot. According to Delhi Police, no one has been injured in this incident. A loud explosion was reported near the embassy at 5.53 pm. After which the crime branch, bomb disposal squad, dog squad and forensic team immediately reached the spot.
NIA is also investigating
Officials said that a search operation was conducted in the area for about three hours. A team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also inspected the incident site. Delhi Police sources said a typed letter addressed to the Israeli ambassador was found in the garden behind the embassy, where the blast took place.
‘Abusive’ language was used in the letter. It has been sent to the forensic laboratory for fingerprint examination. According to the police, ‘This is a one-page letter written in English language. It is suspected to be linked to some organisation. According to officials, security has been increased around the embassy and other Israeli establishments after the incident.
Delhi Police said in a statement, ‘Experts inspected the incident site and collected evidence which may be useful later. They are being sent for forensic investigation.
What apprehension does the police have?
Another official said that no remains of burnt explosives were found from the spot. Security officials who visited the spot said that since no remains of explosives were found at the spot, the possibility of a ‘chemical explosion’ could not be ruled out. Let us tell you that in February 2012, a bomb was planted under a car of the Israeli Embassy here, in which the wife of a diplomat was injured. A similar incident took place in 2021 also, in which some cars were damaged. Even then the NIA had investigated.

Israeli Embassy spokesman Guy Nir said, ‘We can confirm that there was an explosion near the embassy at approximately 5:48 pm, Delhi Police and security teams are still investigating the situation.’ Ohad Nakash Kaynar, deputy head of the Israeli mission in India, said, ‘All our diplomats and staff are safe. Our security team is working in full cooperation with the local security team of Delhi and they will investigate the matter further.
