Burhanpur (Naiduniya Representative). The deteriorating weather conditions since Monday afternoon have again brought lines of concern on the foreheads of the farmers. Light rain had started in the district since late night, which continued on Tuesday as well. Due to the strong wind accompanied by rain, the standing wheat crop in the fields has become obstructed. Along with this, the wheat and gram crops kept for harvesting have also been damaged. It is to be known that these days the harvesting of wheat and gram is going on in the district. In some places the crops are ripe, while others are ready for ripening. In such a situation, due to rain, the brightness of the produce will fade. Due to low quality, it will not be able to be sold at the support price and the price will be low in the open market. To take stock of the damage caused to the crops due to rain, the district administration has sent a team of patwaris for survey since Tuesday morning. Additional Collector Shailendra Singh Solanki said that the survey of the bad crop will be done within two days. According to the damage, compensation amount will be distributed to the farmers under RBC rules. Deputy Director Agriculture MS Devke said that the main crops of Rabi season are wheat and gram, about 22-22 thousand hectare area in the district.
Former minister also took stock
On Tuesday, former minister and BJP state spokesperson Archana Chitnis also reached the fields along with public representatives and officials to take stock of the crops damaged by rain and wind. He has discussed with Collector Praveen Singh and demanded to send a survey team soon and distribute relief amount to the affected farmers. He said that along with Rabi crops, banana crop has also suffered damage at many places. He has also talked about forming a separate team for the survey of other spice crops including onions.
Dozens of villages of Khaknar area affected
Crops have been damaged due to bad weather in dozens of villages including Doifodia of Khaknar region. The maximum damage has been reported in Doifodia, Matapur, Lokhandia, Hasinabad, Sawyer, Karkheda. The weather was changing in the area for the last two-three days. The farmers were frightened by the gathering of clouds in the sky. Due to rain, harvesting and threshing work in the fields has also stopped. Apart from this, damage to crops has also been reported from areas like Shahpur, Zainabad, Nepanagar, Dhaba, Nimbola etc.
