Meanwhile, leaders of political parties continue to give statements against each other. Now in an interview, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge has questioned PM Modi’s faith in Buddhism. However, the President of the Indian Buddhist Association has expressed strong objection to this statement of Kharge and has raised questions on the Congress.
What did Mallikarjun Kharge say?
In an interview, Mallikarjun Kharge had questioned PM Modi’s faith in Buddhism. He had said that Buddha is considered the ninth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. PM Modi does not allow Buddha to come close to him. Kharge had said that there is a law in Uttarakhand that if someone wants to convert to Buddhism, he will have to go to the District Magistrate. Kharge said that Buddhism was established in India but PM Modi does not believe in it.
Kharge’s statement is condemnable- Sangpriya Rahul
Indian Buddhist Association President Sangpriya Rahul has condemned the remarks made by Mallikarjun Kharge on PM Modi. Sangpriya Rahul said that Mallikarjun Kharge’s remarks are condemnable. PM Modi celebrated Lord Buddha’s birthday for the first time in 2014 at Talkatora Stadium. Rahul said that this was the first time after independence that a Prime Minister had celebrated the birthday of Lord Buddha.
Then why did you not pay attention to Buddha?
President of the Indian Buddhist Association, Sangpriya Rahul said that even when PM Modi was the CM of Gujarat, he had the statue of Buddha in the assembly and the CM residence. Sanghapriya Rahul said that I want to ask Mallikarjun Kharge that when Manmohan Singh was in power, why did you not pay attention to Buddha, why did you not celebrate Buddha?
