Nawada. Nawada Police of Bihar has achieved a big success. Taking action, Nawada Police has arrested 4 criminals involved in ganja smuggling. A truck, a Creta car, Rs 20,000 cash and 2 mobile phones along with 237 kg ganja have been recovered. All the arrested smugglers have been sent to jail after necessary interrogation. Two brothers are also among the arrested smugglers.
In a release issued by Nawada Police, it was said that on the night of 23rd and 24th April, the city police station received information that a large consignment of ganja was being taken to Gaya via Nawada in a truck. In the light of information, the city police station seized a truck from near Shobhiya Agricultural Farm in the city. While searching the ballast laden truck, the police found a total of 61 kg of ganja in 61 packets of one kg each from the basement behind the driver’s seat. The truck was seized and driver Subedh Paswan was arrested on the spot. During interrogation, the driver revealed the names of the people involved in the business.
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, SP Karthikeya Sharma formed a SIT under the leadership of SDPO Sadar Anoj Kumar and gave instructions to arrest other businessmen. After which the police laid a trap and arrested the main leader of smuggling from Nawada bypass, brother brothers Rakesh Kumar and Roshan Kumar, father Shashibhushan Sharma, residents of Bela village of Akbarpur police station area. Both were traveling in Creta car BR 01H Q5263. The car was also confiscated. Rs 20,000 in cash and two mobile phones were also seized from these people.
Apart from these two, Ravi Ranjan Kumar’s father Mithilesh Singh, resident of Baghaur village of Govindpur police station area, was arrested from Hisua. During interrogation, Rakesh told that the previously seized truck number was BR 01 G. There is another basement in AD 5638, which has more packets of ganja. When the police investigated his whereabouts, 176 packets of ganja were recovered. Thus, a total of 237 kg of ganja in 237 packets was recovered.
Accused Rakesh also told that he was involved in this business for the last 6-7 months and used to import ganja from Jharsuguda in Odisha state. To avoid any suspicion, he used to do business under the cover of a truck loaded with ballast. Let us tell you that cases of smuggling of ganja and liquor come to light every day. This has become a major source of illegal earnings. Despite all the police activity, the business is not stopping.
