Jaipur. The whole world is now on the way to get freedom from pollution. All developed countries are shifting their public transport to electric vehicles and buses. It has already started in India also. At present, Delhi has the highest number of electric buses in the country. In a small state like Ladakh, operation of electric buses has started as public transport. But it has not started yet in Rajasthan. If the Transport Minister is to be believed, this will soon be possible here too.
To reduce the increasing pollution in Rajasthan, now is the right time to shift public transport to electric public transport. But even now, except e-rickshaws, all types of public transport are running on petrol or diesel on the roads of Rajasthan. The transport department of the state government is giving discounts and subsidies on the purchase of electric vehicles. Common people are now gradually shifting towards electric vehicles. But the number of such people is very less. State Transport Minister Premchand Bairwa says that soon fully electric buses will be seen running in the state.
Electric buses will start as demo
According to the Transport Minister, electric buses will be started in Rajasthan as a demo. He has also met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in this regard. The success of the demo bus will decide in how many phases public transport in Rajasthan should be completely shifted to electric vehicles.
The number of private electric vehicles is increasing
However, the number of private electric vehicles is gradually increasing in the state. But roadways and private buses are still running on diesel engines. The situation is such that in the NCR region, a ban has been imposed on such buses which are not of B6 engine. A small state like Ladakh is understanding the importance of this but a big state like Rajasthan is still far away. Now the eyes are fixed on the new Transport Minister.
