Vinesh Phogat: Paris Olympics 2024 is over and most of the Indian athletes have returned home but Indian female wrestler Vinesh Phogat has not yet come to India. Vinesh was disqualified before the final in the Paris Olympics, after which she filed an appeal in CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sports) for the silver medal, on which the decision is now to come on August 16. A day after this decision, the Indian female wrestler will reach India. Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia has confirmed the date of Vinesh’s return to India. Bajrang wrote on X, “Vinesh Phogat will reach Delhi airport on August 17 at 10 am.” The date shared by Bajrang for Vinesh’s return home gives information about the entire route of the female wrestler from Delhi airport to her village. It is believed that Vinesh is expected to get a warm welcome on her return home.

Vinesh Phogat is still hoping for a silver medal, on which CAS has to decide. When Vinesh Phogat’s weight was weighed before the final match on 7 August, her weight was found to be 100 grams more than the set standard of 50 kg, after which she was disqualified. In this way, Phogat’s dream of winning a medal in the Olympics was shattered. However, she did not give up and filed an appeal in CAS for the silver medal, on which the decision is now to be taken on 16 August at 9:30 am Indian time.

Announced retirement from wrestling

Let us tell you, Vinesh Phogat created history by reaching the final of the 50 kg category in the Paris Olympics. She became the first Indian wrestler to reach the final of wrestling in the Olympics, but before the final, she was stopped from participating in the gold medal match due to being 100 grams overweight and was declared ineligible. In this way, Vinesh’s hopes of getting at least a silver medal were severely dashed. After this, she shocked everyone by announcing her retirement from wrestling in a hurry, disappointed.
