New Delhi. PM Narendra Modi is currently meditating in Kanyakumari. He will meditate there till the voting for the Lok Sabha elections ends on June 1. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday visited the famous Somnath temple located about 20 km from Veraval city in Gir Somnath district of Gujarat to offer prayers. Amit Shah is also a trustee of the ‘Shri Somnath Trust’. A government release said that Shah, his wife Sonalben and son Jai Shah reached the temple in the evening and performed ‘Dhwaj Puja’.
It was told that he also hoisted the flag on the dome of the temple after the ritual. Officials said that Shah will stay at the rest house at night and will again worship at the temple on Saturday morning before leaving for Ahmedabad. Sources said that before reaching Somnath, Shah landed at Rajkot International Airport. After which he held a meeting with senior municipal officials and police officials on the issue of fire in Rajkot’s gaming zone on May 25. 27 people died in this fire.
