Where is Bihar’s famous bureaucrat KK Pathak these days? This is the question on the lips of every person associated with the education department in the state. And why not. His name was on everyone’s lips because he kept a tight leash on the education department and school teachers in Bihar. During his tenure, more than two lakh teachers were reinstated in Bihar within a few months.
KK Pathak is counted among the most strict officers of Bihar. However, he is accused of being self-centered and sometimes even refusing to obey the orders of the Chief Minister’s office. He was posted as ACS (Additional Chief Secretary) of the Education Department in Bihar for a long time.
In the month of June, the Bihar government removed KK Pathak from the post of ACS of the Education Department and sent him to the Revenue and Land Reforms Department. But after this KK Pathak went on a long leave. He did not join the Revenue Department for a long time. Then the Nitish government made him the Chairman of the Revenue Board. The order said that it will be considered effective from June 13. Along with this, it was also said that KK Pathak will also remain the Director General of Bipad. This is the official position of KK Pathak.
Questions raised on functioning in education department
Meanwhile, questions have started being raised on the working of KK Pathak as ACS of the Education Department. Allegations of major financial irregularities have been leveled against him during his tenure as ACS. Allegations have been made that during Pathak’s tenure, the Education Department committed huge irregularities in purchases. Pathak was the ACS of the Education Department for about a year. He was made ACS last year.
resigned in January
Earlier in January this year, KK Pathak had resigned from his post. He had resigned due to questions being raised on his working style. However, later after some persuasion, he returned to the department. It was said that he did not get along well with the then Bihar government’s Education Minister Chandrashekhar, due to which he resigned from his post. Pathak is a 1990 batch IAS officer. He is originally from Uttar Pradesh.
Included among the top officials of Bihar
KK Pathak is among the most senior bureaucrats of Bihar. The state’s Chief Secretary Brajesh Mehrotra is retiring this month. After him, the list of most senior bureaucrats includes both KK Pathak and the current ACS of the Education Department S. Siddharth. The most senior in this list is Amrit Lal Meena, Secretary of the Coal Ministry, who has gone on deputation to the Center. There are some other bureaucrats as well. In such a situation, it will now have to be seen which officer the Nitish government appoints as the next Chief Secretary.
