Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has selected Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla and Group Captain Prashant Balakrishnan Nair to send them to the International Space Station. This is going to be a joint mission of India and America. This decision has been taken on the recommendation of Axiom Space Inc. recognized by NASA. Shubhanshu Shukla will be one of the 4 astronauts going to space, while Balakrishnan Nair will be his backup.
Training from the first week of August
ISRO has informed that the Human Space Flight Center has signed an agreement with Axiom Space Inc. of America for its fourth mission to the International Space Station. The National Mission Assignment Board has recommended the names of Group Captain Shukla (Pradhan) and Group Captain Nair. They will be approved to fly to the International Space Station. Both will start their training for the mission from the first week of August, 2024.
Both are also in Gaganyaan mission
Let us tell you that the 4 astronauts selected by India for Mission Gaganyaan include both Shubhanshu Shukla and Balakrishnan Nair. After this decision, our astronauts will get a chance to go to space even before the launch of Mission Gaganyaan.
