Who is Karnataka Governor Thavarchand Gehlot: Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot has raised the political temperature of the state by giving permission to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land scam. After the decision of Governor Thawarchand Gehlot, a political war has broken out between BJP and Congress in Karnataka. Actually, an RTI activist had requested the governor to give permission to file a complaint against CM Siddaramaiah in the MUDA land allotment case. The governor has given permission to prosecute on the basis of the complaint filed by the RTI activist.
The scam is worth Rs 5,000 crore
The matter is about a piece of land which is 3.14 acres. This land is in the name of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is accused of transferring a piece of land acquired by Muda to his wife’s name. His wife was given a piece of land in a posh area of Mysore, the market value of which is higher than his own land. It is noteworthy that this scam is said to be worth about Rs 5,000 crore.
Gehlot was a minister at the center for seven years
Thaawarchand Gehlot is an experienced politician. He was appointed Governor of Karnataka in July three years ago. Before becoming the Governor, he was the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment in Modi’s central government. He was a minister at the Centre from 2014 to 2021. He has been the most notable face of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Scheduled Castes. During his political career, he represented the constituency of Shajapur in Madhya Pradesh.
Political journey started from college
He was born on 18 May 1948 in Rupeta village. This village is located in Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh. Gehlot has done BA from Vikram University, Ujjain, (Madhya Pradesh). He married Anita Gehlot on 1 May 1965 and has a daughter and three sons. Gehlot started his political journey from his college days. He previously represented Shajapur in the Lok Sabha from 1996 to 2009. He has also done organisational work for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has also been the general secretary.
