London Court.
London: Sanjay Bhandari, the biggest broker of defense deals in India, is currently living in London. He is in the custody of British security agencies, but is a fugitive from India. The Indian government has been trying for his extradition for a long time. He is facing trial related to extradition to India on charges of tax evasion and money laundering. The British court has now relaxed the bail conditions of defense sector middleman Sanjay Bhandari on Friday so that he can attend his son’s wedding. This wedding will take place in a hotel in South-East England.
Let us tell you that Sanjay Bhandari (62) had received permission to appeal against his extradition order in the High Court of London earlier this year. He had applied to the city’s Westminster Magistrate Court through his lawyers and asked that he be allowed to stay in a hotel in London between 7 and 11 July. As part of the agreement with the ‘Crown Prosecution Service’ (CPS), representing the Indian authorities in the extradition proceedings, some changes have been made in Bhandari’s bail conditions while the extradition appeal continues.
Bhandari got bail for 4 days
The London court has granted this bail to Sanjay Bhandari for 4 days. Judge Briony Clark said, “The bail will be relaxed between July 7 and 11.” Last year, after the decision of the Westminster Magistrate Court in November 2022, the then British Foreign Minister Suella Braverman ordered the extradition of Bhandari to face legal proceedings in India.
