The officer to whom PM Modi submitted his nomination papers is none other than Varanasi DM S Rajalingam. IAS officer S Rajalingam is currently posted as DM/District Magistrate of Varanasi. Rajalingam was appointed DM of Varanasi in November 2022. Before this he was working as DM of Kushinagar district of UP.

S Rajalingam is an IAS officer of the year 2009 batch. Talking about his education, he has done Chemical Engineering (B.Tech). Rajalingam has also served on the posts of Collector in Sultanpur, Municipal Commissioner of Ayodhya, Special Secretary of Basic Education Department etc. His appointment to the post of Varanasi DM was made just before the Kashi-Tamil conclave.
