Varanasi. Eminent scholar Pandit Laxmikant Dixit died in Varanasi on Saturday. He was 90 years old. Pandit Laxmikant Dixit led 121 Acharyas during the Pran Pratishtha of Lord Ram Lalla in Ayodhya on January 22 this year. He was made the chief Acharya of Ram Lalla’s Pran Pratishtha.
There is a wave of mourning in Varanasi due to the death of Pandit Laxmikant Dixit. Everyone in Varanasi knew him. Originally, Pandit Laxmikant Dixit’s family was from Solapur in Maharashtra. His ancestors came from there and settled in Kashi. Pandit Laxmikant Dixit’s ancestral home is in Mangala Gauri, Varanasi. People in Varanasi, i.e. Kashi, used to discuss Pandit Laxmikant Dixit’s knowledge everywhere. Pandit Laxmikant Dixit was counted among the eminent scholars of Yajurveda in Varanasi. He believed in always following Sanatan Dharma. The people of Kashi respected him a lot. Many organizations also honored him with many honors.
Pandit Laxmikant Dixit also worked to keep the tradition of Varanasi intact. Pandit Laxmikant Dixit was also the senior Acharya of the Sangved Mahavidyalaya established with the help of Kashi Naresh. Pandit Laxmikant Dixit, who always asked people and his patrons to remain devoted to God, was also an expert in the North Indian way of worship. Pandit Laxmikant Dixit had learnt Vedas from his uncle Ganesh Dixit and had learnt to perform rituals under the Sanatan Puja system. Due to this reputation and knowledge, Pandit Laxmikant Tripathi was made the chief Acharya in the Praan Pratishtha of Lord Ramlala and was entrusted with the leadership of 121 other Acharyas. All the rituals of Ramlala’s Praan Pratishtha were performed under his supervision.
