Lok Sabha Election 2024 in Western UP: This time new tricks will be seen in the political conflict of Western Uttar Pradesh. It is said that the political wind that blows in western Uttar Pradesh also reaches the east. Various political parties are trying their best to turn this political wind in their favor. Unlike 2014 and 2019, this time the Bharatiya Janata Party has made a new move by creating new political equations in the elections. This time there is an alliance of Rashtriya Lok Dal-RLD and BJP in Uttar Pradesh. Due to this political alliance, many issues of Western UP cooled down overnight. In such a situation, the opposition is trying to break this alliance. In this Lok Sabha election, while BJP-RLD alliance is facing the litmus test for many Jat leaders, there is a race for Muslim voters in Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance and Bahujan Samaj Party.
Out of 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, elections for 27 seats in Western UP will be almost completed in the first three phases. In such a situation, all the parties have started efforts to hoist their victory flag on these seats. BJP is currently focusing most on 27 seats in Western UP. The reason is clear that in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP had won 24 seats from here. BJP suffered a setback here in the 2019 elections and could win only 19 seats. Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party had divided four seats each. BJP had suffered loss due to SP-BSP alliance.
Taking a lesson from this, BJP has made a bet of alliance in Western Uttar Pradesh, known as Jat Land. There are more than 18 percent Jat voters on the seats of Western Uttar Pradesh. BJP made a move to woo Jat voters by making Bhupendra Chaudhary the state president. Bhupendra Chaudhary is also being tested in this election to see how well he lives up to BJP’s expectations. At the same time, this is the first Lok Sabha election under the leadership of Rashtriya Lok Dal-RLD chief Chaudhary Jayant, hence it is also a litmus test for him.
Apart from Jat voters, the number of Muslim voters in western Uttar Pradesh has the potential to change the outcome of any election. SP-BSP had won eight seats in the last elections through this equation. The distance that grew between Jats and Muslims after the Muzaffarnagar riots of 2013 was reduced by the continuous efforts of RLD. Muslims had voted for RLD wholeheartedly. But this time this equation has completely changed. With the alliance of Rashtriya Lok Dal with BJP, this Jat-Muslim equation has been shattered. Now whose support will Musaman support? This is an important question.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP’s victory margin on nine seats in Western Uttar Pradesh was less than 25,000 votes. These included seats of Meerut, Baghpat and Muzaffarnagar. While this time the challenge for BJP is to win these seats by a higher margin of votes, the opposition would like to win by reducing this margin.
From the candidates who have been announced so far in Western Uttar Pradesh, it can be estimated that every party is trying hard to solve the caste equations. Majid Ali from BSP in Saharanpur, Pradeep Kumar from BJP in Kairana, Iqra Hasan from SP, Sanjeev Baliyan from BJP in Muzaffarnagar, Harendra Malik from SP, Dara Singh Prajapati from BSP, Chandan Chauhan from RLD in Bijnor Lok Sabha seat, Yashveer Singh from SP. , Chaudhary Bijendra Singh from BSP, Om Kumar from BJP from Nagina seat, Manoj Kumar from SP, Ghanshyam Lodhi from BJP from Rampur, Parmeshwar Lal Saini from BJP from Sambhal, Kanwar Singh Tanwar from BJP from Amroha, Haji Jamil from BSP, in Meerut. Bhanu Pratap Singh from SP, Devvrat Tyagi from BSP and Arun Govil from BJP, Dr. Rajkumar Sangwan from RLD in Baghpat, Praveen Bainsla from BSP, Mahesh Sharma from BJP in Gautam Budhhagar, Rahul Awana from SP, Dr. Bhola Singh from BJP in Bulandshahr. In Aligarh, Bijendra Singh from SP, Jasvir Valmiki from SP in Hathras, Hema Malini from BJP in Mathura, SP Singh Baghel from BJP in Agra, Pooja Amrohi from BSP and Praveen Singh Aron from SP are in the fray in Bareilly.
