Every claim for asylum in Britain is considered very carefully on a case-by-case basis. It is being told that Sheikh Hasina does not have a diplomatic visa. In such a situation, she cannot enter Britain. Secondly, asylum can be obtained only after going to Britain once.

Those who need international protection have to first take refuge in a safe country. The British government has indicated that Hasina may not get legal protection in Britain against any possible investigation in view of the violent protests in Bangladesh.

Where is Hasina planning to go now?

In such a situation, now Sheikh Hasina has to consider moving to some other country. Hasina has informed India about her possible future steps. If sources are to be believed, it has also been learned that Hasina’s family members are also in Finland and hence she is also considering the option of going to the northern European country. In such a situation, Hasina can stay in India for the next few days. Sheikh Hasina is now considering many other options including United Arab Emirates (UAE), Belarus, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Finland.

Why did you think of going to London?
Now the question is why did Sheikh Hasina first think of going to London? There are many reasons for this. The first reason is that her sister Rehana has UK citizenship. Secondly, Rihanna’s daughter Tulip Siddiq is a member of the Labour Party in the British Parliament and also the Economic Secretary in the Finance Ministry. Currently the Labour Party is in power. Another big reason is that Britain had previously offered asylum to Khesina Hasina’s late father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman when he was released from Pakistani jail in 1972 after the Bangladesh Liberation War. For this reason, Sheikh Hasina felt that Britain would be the easiest destination for her. However, now it is not possible to go to Britain.

A few hours after resigning from the post of Prime Minister, Hasina reached Hindon Airbase on Monday by C-130J military transport aircraft. Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina had plans to go to London via India and her colleagues had informed the Indian authorities about this before reaching Hindon. Sheikh Hasina (76) resigned from the post of Prime Minister on Monday after massive protests. The protest started against the provision of reservation in jobs, but after a few weeks it turned into a big movement and the demand to remove Hasina from power started.
