New Delhi. The problems of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accused in the money laundering case related to the Delhi liquor scam, may increase in the coming days. A Delhi court on Wednesday extended the judicial custody of CM Kejriwal till July 3 in the repealed excise policy case. Earlier, the special judge asked the ED what is the need to extend the judicial custody of Arvind Kejriwal? On this, ASG SV Raju, who appeared in the court on behalf of the ED, told the court that Rs 45 crore has been traced in the liquor scam case of Rs 100 crore. During the hearing of the high-profile case, the name of another accused in the case, K. Kavita, also came up. Along with this, the Goa assembly elections were also mentioned.
Arvind Kejriwal is currently imprisoned in Tihar Jail No. 2. The ED arrested CM Kejriwal on March 21 after a long interrogation. In the meantime, the Supreme Court granted him interim bail to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections. Kejriwal surrendered on June 2, 2024. Now once again he has not got relief from the court. His judicial custody has been extended till July 3. During the hearing on June 19, the court wanted to know from the ED what is the need to extend Arvind Kejriwal’s custody. On this, the ED gave a complete answer.

Money trail of ₹45 crores traced- ED
ASG SV Raju, who appeared in the court on behalf of ED, told that Vinod Chauhan had received Rs 25 crore from K. Kavitha’s personal assistant through Abhishek Boinpalli. According to news agency ANI, this money was used in the Goa elections. During the hearing, the investigating officer told the court that Rs 25 crore is a part of the money trail of Rs 100 crore. He further told the judge that till now a money trail of Rs 45 crore has been traced. Investigation is going on against Vinod Chauhan and a case will be registered by the end of June.
‘The matter ultimately comes back to Kejriwal’s role’
ASG SV Raju told the court that every issue related to the case ultimately rests on the role of Kejriwal. At the same time, advocate Vivek Jain, who appeared in the court on behalf of Kejriwal, argued that there is no basis for extending Kejriwal’s custody. However, the court rejected his argument.
