New Delhi. Regarding Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Chairperson Madhavi Puri Buch, who has come under fire after a new report by US research and investment company Hindenburg Research, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Sunday asked why she has not resigned yet. Along with this, he also asked whether the Supreme Court will take suo motu cognizance of this matter.
In fact, Hindenburg Research has alleged that it suspects that the reason for SEBI’s reluctance to take action against the Adani Group may be that Buch had a stake in foreign funds linked to the Adani Group. In a report released late Saturday night, Hindenburg said that SEBI chief Buch and her husband Dhawal Buch have a stake in the foreign fund that was used for alleged misappropriation of funds in the Adani Group.
However, the SEBI chairperson has termed these allegations as baseless and targeted the research agency. Buch and her husband Dhawal had called the allegations baseless. The couple said that Hindenburg is attacking the credibility of the capital market regulator and is also trying to defame the chairperson.
