Why should we not eat non veg during Sawan: The month of Sawan is going on and today is the third Monday of Sawan. In this month, which is dear to Lord Shiva, devotees live a restrained life and worship Bholenath with full devotion to please him. In this month, giving donations and helping the poor is also very virtuous. In Hinduism, there are many rules related to food in this month. For example, there is a belief that non-vegetarian food should not be eaten in Sawan. Along with this, there is a rule of not eating curry, curd, green leafy vegetables etc. in the month of Sawan. Often people do not follow these beliefs regarding food considering them to be mere religious rules. But do you know that there is a prohibition on eating food in Sawan in religion, science also tells the reason behind it.
Even hard-core non-vegetarians do not eat non-vegetarian food
Most people abstain from meat during the month of Sawan. The elders of the house advise all the members of their family not to eat non-veg for this one month. Many people who eat non-veg 3 to 4 days a week, also follow a completely vegetarian diet during the holy month of Sawan. But in reality, there are not only religious but also scientific reasons behind this tradition.
The month of Sawan is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
It is difficult to digest non-veg
Actually, the month of Sawan is the month of rain. The sunlight is available for a short time, the humidity and moisture increases due to rain all around. Due to this, our digestive fire becomes weak. Non-vegetarian food takes more time to digest. We have two types of digestive fire. Sam and Mand. In Sam Agni, it takes 5 to 6 hours for the food to digest in the body. Whereas in Mand Agni, it takes 7 to 8 hours for the food to digest. Due to weak digestive power, non-veg food starts rotting in the intestines. In such a situation, in the month of Sawan, it becomes difficult to digest heavy food or food that is not easily digestible. Therefore, it is believed that it is better to eat vegetarian food in the month of Shravan. Not only non-veg, many vegetarian things, which are not easily digestible, are also prohibited from eating in this season.
to prevent infection
In the month of Sawan, water is more contaminated than normal days. That is why eating fish is prohibited. Actually, there is a risk of getting many water-borne infections by eating creatures dependent on contaminated or polluted water. Along with this, there is a greater fear of spreading infection due to increased humidity in the environment. This infection can also happen to animals. In such a situation, it is better to avoid non-veg to avoid any infection from animals.

In this month, which is dear to Lord Shiva, devotees live a disciplined life and worship with full devotion to please Bholenath.
Living beings conceive in the rain
Rainy season is also the breeding season for aquatic animals. If you eat these animals in this season, you also interfere with their breeding process. According to Ayurveda, a person’s digestion process is slow in the month of Shravan, so there may be trouble in digesting curry. Along with this, there is also a problem of Vata. In the month of Shravan, eating all green leafy vegetables including bitter gourd, brinjal, radish, jackfruit, meat, fish, curd is prohibited.
